Finding a new path series has emerged through the process of exploration both in my work and of myself. These new abstract works have been created using complementary colours and use of geometric shapes in forming structure over softness. Gaining inspiration from industrial forms against the ocean.
This work has been folded several times throughout the painting process to create repetitive texture. This invites the eye to see the change in depth and dimension.
During the height of lockdown, my son and I added the second layer using white fluid paint, orange and red pastel and multiple pencils in a view to feeling free through creativity. This was a beautiful moment for us in very trying times.
From this point, I completed the work, juxtaposing shape and colour, drawing on my love of the ocean and the structures found along the coastline.
